Still snow in my yard...

The rain finally turned to snow...8 inches of snow. It was so lovely when I awoke to find it covering the yard and drive on that first morning. The "silence" of winter is something special. As the sun rose and the rays of light glistened across the pristine white it began to shimmer and come to life.

Of course it wasn't long before footprints and tire tracks assaulted the beauty that the snow had once been. Life must go on. I wanted to get outside and build a snowman, but the temp was much colder than my body felt comfortable spending time in, so I allowed the "thought" of a snowman to permeate in my mind.  He was a handsome dude. Perhaps I'll use him in a book I write in the future.

I hope wherever you are, that your weather, no matter what it may be, will bring you some measure of joy.

It's such a lovely day...

As the words of an old 70s song goes: "It's such a lovely day today, look at the sunshine..."  Oh, joy, there is sun today after so many days of constant rain. Sometimes the rain will jolt my creative juices, but with it continuing for two weeks, it just became a bit depressing.

I hope you have a lovely day where you are, and that you're planning to do something fun.  I'm not sure what I'll do yet, maybe just sit and enjoy the rays of light coming in through my window.  The puppies, Hessee and Fannee, certainly like that they can run in and out of the doggie door at will today. They've had a bit of cabin fever, and because of this, have required so much more love and attention.  Bless them.  Nothing like having two over weight dogs on your lap for hours on end...gotta love 'em.

If you are anywhere near Yosemite National Park, make sure to buzz in now that the gates are opened again. The falls are massive, breath taking, so beautiful. Pack a picnic lunch and go exploring, or take one of the buses and ride from point to point, seeing whatever strikes your fancy. Buy a tee shirt that says, "I WAS HERE" and enjoy a peaceful day in the park...if you can make it happen.

I wish you all, Peace and Joy, Love and Light,

A Rainy Day in the Mountains...

Hello. I've just returned from a Sisters In Crime meeting, and was so happy to be back among my fellow writers there.  I've been away for a while.

I enjoyed a talk by David Kulczyk on California's Deadliest Women.  They are real life women who committed murder. I was amazed at just how many there have been in my own backyard, so to speak.

We were also presented with an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a newly opened door for publishing fiction. Pace Press an imprint of Linden Publishing is accepting submissions for fiction in many genres. And the best part, they are located in Fresno, CA., about an hour from where I live. Nothing better than being able to have a "close" working relationship with your editor. Yes, I plan to query with sample chapters. Fingers and toes crossed.

The highlight of my day was that I won a raffle gift...a beautiful handmade throw. It's shades of blue and purple and will be lovely to snuggle under while reading the book that came with it, Windless Summer by Heather Sharfeddin.

It's raining in the mountains near Yosemite National Park today. For me, this make the creative juices run, conjuring story ideas that float around in my mind. It's also the perfect day to curl up with a good book or relax with a cup of hot chocolate and watch a football game on T.V. I'm one of those weird people who can all three at the same time. I'm sure there are more weird-os out there...right?

So until we meet here again, have a wonderful day, whatever you are doing.
